Mountain Biking Utah

There are many incredible places to explore close up from one end of Utah to the other. From the stunning red rocks and earth of the desert areas to the mountains lined with unique wildflowers, Utah has a reputation for being one of the premier places to explore by bike. Things that one would miss in a car can be discovered up close by, Mountain Biking Utah and it is easy to switch from biking to hiking and back again on your journey. In fact, many of the higher alpine ski areas offer lifts that help get you and your bike to areas that offer incredible beauty and less traffic and tourists. Other areas also offer shuttles.
Utah boasts many places to go and experience the beauty of the state close up. One of the most visited areas for Mountain Biking Utah is Park City. Not only does Park City abound with opportunities to snowboard and ski, visit the Sundance Film Festival, and enjoy other activities, it is also the apex of numerous trails that extend in many directions and take riders on adventures through hundreds of sites through the Wasatch Mountains, some of which take you through many of the area’s old silver mining sites.
Another area to visit is Moab which has a variety of trails for every age and every physical condition. Some trails are “slickrock” trails that are fun and relatively easy for the whole family. There are others made of sandstone and also feature slickrock areas, and there are others trails that are paved or partially paved. Regardless of what trails you choose, you will be able to be create an adventure that includes exploring some of Utah’s famous arches, rims, overlooks, and even the Colorado River. Two of the most well known areas – not to be missed – are White Rim Trail through Canyonlands and Slickrock Trail, which is about one mile from Moab and is known throughout the world.

Southern Utah also has some exciting places to explore by bike. Castro Canyon and Thunder Mountain Trail are about a half an hour from Cedar City and mimic the trails found in Bryce Canyon. Though there are many places to go mountain biking, Bryce Canyon National Park does not allow mountain bikes, but these two trails give the feel of being in Bryce. There are many other great biking areas near Cedar City and St. George, especially the area called the Grand Staircase. This is a huge area that encompasses scenic canyons of the Escalante, the mesas and deep canyons of the Kaiparowits Plateau, and a series of stunning and colorful cliffs called the Grand Staircase which includes various areas of white, vermilion and pink cliffs, unique to this area, and sought after by visitors from around the world.
